The political bickering has prompted European leaders to consider new ways of ensuring that Athens goes ahead with privatisations, regardless of party politics, including introducing an independent, outside agency to run the sell-off. Privatisation was a key condition in an EU agreement in March to lower the rates in Greece’s bail-out loans by one percentage point.
