Among the big mistakes that destroy authority and render education imposssible is for adults to treat youngsters like their equals or make them feel they are their equals.
The mother who vaunts herself of being her daughter's best buddy. The father who shares his son's school assignments. The teacher who praises herself of being her students' confident. The school or university administrators who accept students in their board of directors or pedagogical councils. The professor who discusses with his students the methods by which he will evaluate them. The teacher who wears jeans in the classroom. Etc.
