"Iris online, the legal Newsletter of the Euroepan Audiovisual Observatory in this month's issue (2024/25) reports about a judgement of the ECHR emphasising the disproportionate character of the criminal conviction for defamation in the context of a debate on a matter of public interest. The judgement illustrates de need for decriminalization of defamation in those countries where defamation can still be prosecuted as a criminal offence: "European Court of Human Rights: Almeida Arroja v. Portugal"".
