Around 50,000 British women were believed to have the implants filled with an unregulated industrial silicone. It is thought 3,000 of them were NHS patients who had the implants fitted after breast cancer surgery.

PS: Aparentemente (pesquisa na net), as próteses PIP vendiam-se em duas versões. Uma boa para as clínicas de luxo, com silicone de qualidade médica, a 650,00 € e uma genérica (que a PIP chamava "household"), com silicone industrial, a 165,00 €. O NHS terá comprado destas últimas.
