In its original version the story involves a gypsy. He had just stolen a chicken which he carried on his shoulders as he walked across the road.
On a turn, the owner jumps on him and says:
-So, you have stolen my chicken...
The gypsy, looking as aloof as he could, says:
-Chicken ... what chicken?
The owner points his finger at the chicken on the gypsy's shoulders and angrily says:
-That chicken which is on your shoulders!...
The gypsy, now looking even more aloof than before, looks over his shoulders and in a rapid mouvement lowers his arms and exclaims in horror:
-Ai um bicho!...
