Consider two societies living under two different religions:
One which teaches its believers that there is no life after death.
The other which theaches its believers that there is life after death and that you shall be rewarded in that life by the good works and deeds you did in your earthly life.
Other things being equal, which of these societies maximizes the average duration and quality of human life on earth? Why?
