He is, by far, the most important Portuguese politician of modernity. He was born this day, April 28th, 1889. The discussion of his political and social thought would be of much importance and benefit for present day Portugal. It is time to give him credit for what he accomplished. Over the last two centuries at least it was with him at the helm that Portugal witnessed the greatest period of economic and social progress (statistics are publicly available for those wishing to know the truth, instead of constructing myths and telling lies about him). It is high time also to give back to Ponte 25 de Abril the name of its true father: Salazar.
