Objectivism

Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism is one of the currents of modern liberal thought. Briefly, this philosophy holds that reason is the sole instrument to interpret and deal with reality. It is radically individualistic and anti-religious. Ayn Rand was militantly atheistic and her diatribes against religion were mainly directed (you guess) at the Catholic Church. She aimed at replacing a moral system based on reason for the traditional system of morals inspired on religion (see how that works in the post below). Born in Russia of Jewish parents, she emigrated to the Unites States at the age of 21, where she became famous. Objectivists are also uncompromising defenders of capitalism.
