You love penhoras, don´t you? Your tax department is making penhoras like mad. They seem ready to penhorar everything under the sun. According to today's Jornal de Negócios they made 805 thousand penhoras in 2007, almost one penhora for every 12 people in your country. At this rate, sooner or later you will have no houses, no cars, no salaries. Everything is penhorado.

You feel safe because you owe no money to the tax department? I would not feel so, folks, because the same newspaper makes this one big headline on p. 20: "Pai do IRS [Professor Paulo Pitta e Cunha] penhorado por dívida [fiscal] que já tinha pago".

Professor Pitta e Cunha is obviously one of those very few taxpayers in the country who can make it to the newspapers. Now, think about those who can't.
