"Most Greeks oppose last week's European deal to address the country's debt crisis, a poll showed on Sunday, amid fears that a planned debt writedown will bring further pain and yield few benefits for the country. According to the poll, 58.9% of Greeks judge the new European deal as "negative" or "probably negative" for Greece, while nearly two-thirds said they felt unease, fear or rage at the decisions reached by European leaders (...) Some 54.2% of Greeks thought a national referendum should be called to approve the new aid deal, compared with 40% who said Parliament should decide. Three-quarters of Greeks said that if the deal is approved by Parliament, then it should be backed by a supermajority of at least 180 votes in Greece's 300-member legislature. But the poll also showed that Greeks were conflicted and divided over the deal, and confirmed widespread disaffection with Greece's political leadership. Slightly more than half of Greeks, 50.1%, thought that more European oversight was either desirable or necessary for the country; but 48.8% saw it as an infringement of national sovereignty. At the same time, an overwhelming majority of Greeks—72.5%—wanted Greece to remain in the euro zone.", no Wall Street Journal (destaques meus).
