Before dinner, PA forcefully argued with Joaquim that, due to the economic and financial crisis in Portugal, this could well be the last opportunity for them to eat Spanish lagosta. From now on, and to the rest of their lives, the best they could aim would be to eat Portuguese lagosta. And everybody knows that Foreign lagosta is much better than Portuguese lagosta, PA said.
Moreover, it would be their last opportunity in decades to drink Albariño, PA argued. For many years to come they should resign themselves to drink Alvarinho. Joaquim could not believe it. He even argued that Albariño is pretty much the same thing as Alvarinho. No, said PA, Albariño is much better, far much better, than Alvarinho. Because it is foreign. It's estrangeiro, Joaquim!, PA said in a tone that everybody in the restaurant could hear.
This is the moment when Joaquim tells PA: "OK, ... PA..., I shall buy you a dinner of Spanish lagosta wined with Albariño..." (just notice how happy PA is).
Joaquim actually behaved like a man. He generously footed the bill to the four of them (the two men were joined by their wives).
