Modern liberal authors, such as Friedman, Rand, Hayek, Mises, Rothbard made their intellectual carriers mainly in the USA. Hayek did it too in the UK. It was their teaching of a shocking, extremely individualistic philosophy that first made them famous in those two countries, characterized by a mostly conformist culture.
They would never became famous in the first place in a Catholic country. Why? Because the arch-individualist they were talking about and who represented their philosophical ideal would be around by the millions in a Catholic country.
All these authors preached some form of Catholic individualism without ever mentioning its paternity. The only exception is Rothbard who, late in his life, visited Guatemala and admited that the type of individualism he always defended could be lived in that country.
