a fascinating one

One World Government, One World (Catholic) Church. The New Testament as the Constitution. The Catholic Church acting as sort of Constitutional Court. I had never thought about this but it seems to me quite a good World, actually, an exciting if not a fascinating one.

It would impose on you just a little sacrifice as it would be a sacrifice in words. You could not speak too much in public, specially to blame the authorities and the prevailing orthodoxy. In private, you could say whatever comes to your mind, even joking about the authorities and the orthodoxy. Nobody would stop you at that. Actually, people would enjoy it quite a lot.

But this World would be superb specially in terms of action. You could do virtually everything you want short of violent action. You could even do all those things that border on the unlawful and the sinful, such as driving at 200 km/h in the highway, smoking, drinking and group sex, if you like them. Nobody would stop you at those activities, provided you practiced them at a distance from the authorities. And in economic terms, with the New Testament as the Constitution, it would be an overly prosperous World. I am not sure democracy and the free market were appropriate forms of political and economic organization for this World. I tend to think some form of aristocracy and corporativism would fit it better.
