not capable

Dear administrados,

The big rally by teachers yesterday in Lisbon is quite typical of your culture. I personally enjoyed the scene both on TV and on newspapers.

I am quite confident that at least ninety percent of the teachers who participated in the rally belong to that class of intellectuals who for years have been pointing to the educational systems of Protestant countries, such as Finland, Holland, Britain, Sweden, etc., as model systems you should replicate in your country. For instance, teachers in those countries have been evaluated for a long time both at the high school and university levels.
.
The interesting point is that most teachers are tasting now the very own medicine they have been prescribing and they do not like it, or so it seems to me. To blame the ministry for your present educational system is not fair, because the argument would imply that they invented this system at Avenida 5 de Outubro, including the evaluation of teachers. Forget about it. As you know, they are not capable of inventing anything there. They just copied it from the Protestant countries of Northern Europe with the overwhelming support of the teachers of your country. (As you know, your intellectuals love what is foreign and largely unknown to them: if it is foreign is good regardless of the amount of shit there is in it).

The same process is now occuring at your universities, although it is still at an earlier stage. The Bologna Protocol represented the triumph of the Protestant model of university education all over the European Union, which is now being imposed on your universities. Just watch your universities over the next three to five years and you will have plenty of motives to laugh. Do you imagine professors at Coimbra submiting to an evaluation?
