National Defense

Transcript of the conversation between President-elect Donald Trump and Peter Throw, Part XX

Peter Throw (PT) - Now, Don...let's get back to your short vídeo and talk about National Defense, another priority for the first one-hundred days of your Administration...

Donald Trump (DT) - Go ahead, Peter...

PT - You talk about defending the United States from cyber-attacks on American infrastructure and other sorts of attacks...

DT - Yes, Peter, that's what I'll do...

PT - And yet... judging from the Press...it seems that the whole World should be afraid of you...that Trump's America will be ready to attack  any nation on short notice and at the first provocation...

DT - No Peter...its the opposite... under my Administration, America will go back, as much as possible,  to its old tradition of isolationism ...we shall attack a nation only if we are attacked...Otherwise, we will follow that old American dictum "Mind your own business"...

PT - That means that you would not have gone to war in Iraq...

DT - No...I wouldn't... I was very much against the Iraq war back in 2003...

PT - Some contend that you were at best ambivalent...

DT - Well, Peter ... there was a lot of noise around at the time ...such as that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction... which proved to be lies... Now, I feel strongly against the Iraq war...

PT - Why?

DT - Iraq was never a threat to America  ... You cannot export democracy, Peter...Thousands of people are still dying in Iraq  each month because of the US-led intervention...And the Iraq war produced ISIS...

PT - That non-interventionist stance of yours suggests that you are reducing US commitments to Nato...

DT - Immediately, Peter...

PT - Europeans are very critical of that...

DT - Oh Peter... you know... Europeans are big talkers about freedom and democracy...but when it comes to defend it... they call on the United States to do the job and pay for it...

PT - Neverthless... when it comes to Nato, democracy and the free World ... Europeans see apocalypse in your Presidency, Don...

DT -  Do they, Peter?... I am so sad... What can I do to reverse that view, Peter?...

PT - Don't worry, Don ... I've sent you St Therese ... she can do miracles for you...

DT - Can she, Peter?...

PT - Sure, she can ... She has already predicted that miracle in Public:  "Europe will outlive Donald Trump"!
